Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Artsy Reader. This week’s topic is Places Mentioned In Books That I’d Like to Visit. This category really strikes home for me because I’ve actually chosen to travel places that I have read about in books. Specifically, I went to Paris (and the Shakespeare and Company bookstore) after reading about it in Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. So here is my list of fictional and real places that I would like to visit.
- Dolores Park in San Francisco – Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
- London – One Day in December by Josie Silver
- Artemis – Artemis by Andy Weir
- Oasis – Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
- Austenland – Austenland by Shannon Hale
- New York City – Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
- Chicago – Becoming by Michelle Obama
- Washington, DC – Becoming by Michelle Obama
- Disneyland – Walt Disney: An American Original by Bob Thomas
- Mars – The Martian by Andy Weir
Yes Austenland would be a dream to go to! ❤
OMG Austenland! That would be so fun!
I would love to visit Dolores Park.
Ah, the Oasis! 😀 You get far more worlds for the price of one. 😉
Glad I’m not the only one who did fictional places 😂 I had one real one on my list (Prague) but thought fictional would be more fun! Great list! I’m not sure I’m up for the one way trip to Mars 😬

Oasis would be pretty awesome! All those possibilities. London is also a must- see destination for me.
Mars would be such a cool place to visit. I hope humans do go there someday.
My Top Ten Tuesday post.
I’ve been to New York and DC and I go to London a lot as I live not all that far from there! I’d love to go to Chicago, my parents have been there and said it was amazing.

Yeah for the moon and Mars! I actually haven’t read The Martian yet, but I did read Artemis. I enjoyed it, but I’m wondering how “hard” the science fiction is in The Martian since Artemis seemed so casual? Not a bad thing either way, but Artemis didn’t quite have the tone I expect The Martian to.
The moon made my list too if you’d like to check it out!
Top Ten Tuesday
I was born in Illinois and still have never visited Chicago. One of these days I’ll have to!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Disneyland is a great place to go. It would be nice to visit Mars, but I wouldn’t want to stay there.
